Exploring a new Mug Style

As I have said many times before, I am no longer making mugs but our life as a potters has come to a screeching halt since all of our art fairs have been cancelled through July. I am spending more time in the studio making smaller items and testing glazes however, I am throwing almost everything away that comes out of the kiln. Honestly, production has been very slow and as luck would have it our glazes have been misbehaving - not really sure what the actual culprit is yet. We are still working on the solution.

One of my friends (Mo Anderson) has been requesting a mug similar to what I used to make so many years ago and another crystalline artist friend (Holly McKeen) challenged me to explore the making of mugs using similar forms found in our larger pieces - interestingly enough, her suggestion takes me right back to the mug forms I was making so long ago.
So here they are -  exploring a new and yet familiar form.
Let me know what you think.

This morning, I shattered my favorite mug, one I bought from you, Glenn, at a Custer Street Fair twenty years ago. I'm totally gutted--this mug had the perfect colors for coffee, it was the perfect volume (12 oz), and fit into my hand like a glove. Even after I'd emptied its contents, I enjoyed just holding the mug in my hand like a worry stone.

I'm sorry to hear that you're no longer making mugs, especially because that image on the left has a similar look to my dearly departed one.

Yes!!! I hear you! My husband and I bought 2 mugs about 10 years ago at an Arts festival in Jacksonville, FL. His handle broke about 5 years ago and mine broke yesterday( only ourselves to blame)I feel exactly the same way, I loved EVERYTHING about it!!

Honestly, I couldn't bring myself to throw away all of the pieces--the two biggest ones sit on my work desk, just as they did when they were united.

Would LOVE to have one of those!!
I wish I could post a picture of the one I broke yesterday!! I have so enjoyed this mug for the past 10 years!! I loved the shape, size, colors, and overall beauty!! It was amber and royal blue.
Please, if you ever decide to produce these lovelies again, I will definitely purchase 2!!

My favorite mug recently cracked. A new one is on my holiday wish list.
It gives Bill a reason to drive over for Tour de Clay!

Something I loved about the one that cracked is that the lower part was round, and if I poured my cream just right, I didn't have to stir it. :)
